Director Martin Koolhoven elicits terrific performances from his cast in this unsettling film, which evolves from an apparent love story into a dark psychological portrait. Its central character is Martje, a well-loved boss at a commercial laundry, who leads a lonely, solitary life. The women who work for her urge her to pursue a genial truck driver, a guy she met in passing who's applied for a job at the laundry. He's flirtatious and flattering, but when she responds, he discovers the depths of her vulnerability. Monic Hendrickx (Zus and Zo) and Oksana Akinshina (Lilya 4-Ever) star. (2004, 88 minutes.) In Dutch with subtitles.
